Due: Periodically throughout the semester at the beginning of class. See the course calendar.
Description
You are to act as a technical reviewer/editor for an article review. Using a red pen, correct any grammar, spelling, or other stylistic errors. Also, suggest corrections for any larger structural problems with the review. For example if an idea is not clearly presented or the review could flow more smoothly with a different logical flow, suggest to the author how these problem might be corrected. You should critique the review on the following levels with greater emphasis given to the last two items.
- How well the article flowed/written?
- Was the article easy to follow?
- Blatant errors/missing info?
- Overall critique of their methods?
- Critique of their conclusions from results given?
Concrete, actionable comments and criticisms are best. Don't make personally or derogatory comments about the author or proposal. If the review is excellent, say so and make comments to improve it even further. If the review is poor, say so and provide concrete suggestions to improve it.
Format
The red pen corrections should be made directly to the review. Do not put your name or any other identifying marks at the top of the red pen correction copy of the review. Make one photo copy of the corrected version. Attach an instructor cover sheet to the photo copied version. Do not put a cover sheet on the original corrected version.
Submitting
Return the original to its author with your comments. Scan a copy to submit electronically. See the general directions for submitting your homework.
